ABD RACING 1.8T FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER

ABD RACING 1.8T FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER
Retails: $1095.00

I have had one of these for a while, about 2 years or 30,000 miles. Its a good intercooler however it has its draw backs.

This was an easy install.   Take off the side mount intercooler and install new front mount in its place.  As far as big tools the biggest thing you needed to install it was a drill.  I also used a cutoff wheel to trim the lip on the lower edge of the radiator frame.  I dont think it was completely necessary though.  It was just so that the intercooler fit perfectly flush.  Once it was installed you could definatley feel the difference right away.  The car felt like a new car.

Likes: Installs easily, looks great.

Dislikes:  The lower tube that attaches below the radiator makes your front end clearance 2 inches lower than the rest of your car.  As well, my car is lowered so it scrapes all the time.

If I could change something:  It would be the way the plumbing is set up.

ABD's write up on their site:
ABD Racing is proud to have been the first to offer a complete easy to install front mount intercooler conversion for 1.8T-powered vehicles. This kit can be installed in about an hour or two with only minor trimming of the front spoiler (depending on the manufacturer) and no modifications to any sheet metal or bumper reinforcement. Independent dyno studies have shown gains of 9hp with over 30% less intake heat. The actual horsepower gains can be much higher as the engine heat alone can rob over 15hp.The complete kit includes all hardware, clamps, silicone couplers; ceramic-coated mandrel bent tubing and a free flowing all aluminum construction intercooler.
